ARTIST STATEMENT:
After graduating with an MA in photojournalism in 2007 I moved to Cairo and forged a successful career working as a documentary photographer working across the Middle East & Africa, publishing work in various periodicals including NYT magazine, Colors, Monocle, WSJ, Internazionale, National Geographic, and Prospect. I've picked up various awards and grants over the last couple of years, including the prestigious PDN Arnold Newman Award for New Portraiture.
I dedicate much of my own time on developing larger bodies of work that engage and reflect on current affairs which play out in the periphery, seeking another more comprehensive viewpoint of an often misunderstood and ignored reality. Much of my work focuses on identity and how, whether viewed from an individual or collective group within society, it fluctuates as the environment and social situations constantly shift and evolve.
